Coronavirus Maroondah: Kilsyth South, Croydon, Croydon Hills have highest active cases

One of Maroondah’s biggest coronavirus clusters has shrunk, but active cases continue to emerge in other suburbs in the area.
Data obtained by Leader indicated Postcode 3136 – which includes Croydon, Croydon Hills, Croydon North and Croydon South – had 18 active cases as of Thursday, August 13.
The figure was seven cases lower than the 25 cases recorded on Thursday, August 6.

However, nearly every other postcode added to its tally – led by 3153 – home to Bayswater North and Knox’s Bayswater.
Its total doubled from five active cases to 10 in the space of a week.
Two more active cases were recorded in postcode 3134 – home to Ringwood, Ringwood North and Warranwood – with its total increasing from seven to nine in the same period.
Two postcodes recorded another active case – 3135 (Heathmont and Ringwood East, eight total cases) and 3115 (Wonga Park, two total cases).
Postcode 3137 — which includes Maroondah’s Kilsyth South and Yarra Ranges’ Kilsyth — still has the highest number of cases despite being split between two municipalities.
Its total dropped by two active cases from 56 to 54 by Thursday, August 13.
The postcode includes Kilsyth’s Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes, which had 130 linked cases as of Monday, August 17 – an increase of five cases from Monday, August 10.
The State Government has imposed Stage 4 restrictions in Maroondah and the rest of metropolitan Melbourne until at least September 13.
Under the restrictions, residents can only travel within a 5km radius of their home address.
Face masks remain mandatory for all Victorians outside of the home.
There is a curfew between 8pm-5am, and residents are limited to one hour of outside exercise per day.
Only one member of each household is allowed to make one trip to the supermarket for essential items each day.
