Popular Aussie department store Harris Scarfe has opened its latest outlet in Chirnside Park, part of a huge new shopping centre development.
Eager shoppers flocked to the store opening on Thursday morning, enjoying free coffee and toasted sandwiches, and meeting exclusive designer and ambassador, Shaynna Blaze, and and ambassador Olympian Giaan Rooney at the new Chirnside Lifestyle Centre.
Locals Lindy and Sarah posed for a photo with Shaynna and said they were big fans of The Block judge.
They were also impressed with the new store.
“It’s brilliant to have it in Chirnside, we used to have to go to the Ringwood store, but this is bigger and better,” they said.
Up to a dozen big brands are set to open at formerly vacant block of land at 266-268 Maroondah Highway, including Baby Bunting, Fantastic Furniture, Carpet Call, Ashley Furniture, Bargain Barn, Early Settler and fast food giants Taco Bell and Subway.
Taking Shape clothing will open on December 9 and Baby Bunting on December 17, while Taco Bell confirmed it was aiming to open early in the new year.
The new 2000sq m Harris Scarfe store has created 20 new jobs.
The Home format is focused on Harris Scarfe’s homeware ranges in cookware, food preparation and electrical appliances, dining and entertaining, plus manchester for bed and bathroom and a popular and growing range of home decor.
Harris Scarfe chief executive officer Graham Dean said the new store would bring a welcome boost to the local economy: “We’re excited to extend our footprint in Melbourne’s east and welcome our latest Home store to our network. Chirnside will be the 26th Harris Scarfe store in Victoria and will showcase all our latest developments in store design and visual merchandise.”
