A beloved Aussie retailer is opening a new store in Melbourne’s north, and there’s plenty of bargains up for grabs.

Popular Aussie department store Harris Scarfe is opening a new store in South Morang, with plenty of bargains up for grabs.

The Block judge Shaynna Blaze will officially open the new Harris Scarfe Home store at the AXIS Homemaker Centre on November 11, with the first 100 customers invited to enjoy free coffee and cupcakes, with DJ entertainment until midday.

Twenty new jobs have been created at the new store in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor, the 24th Harris Scarfe store to open in Victoria.

It continues the comeback story of the popular 170-year-old retail chain, which was placed into receivership in January 2020.

The Spotlight Group acquired Harris Scarfe soon after, with new Harris Scarfe Home stores opening in Frankston and Carnegie last year.

Harris Scarfe chief executive Graham Dean said they hoped to open more stores in Victoria in the future.

“Victoria has always been a stronghold for us in terms of the number of stores we’ve had, but also our desire to have even more,” he said.

“It’s always been a target to put as many stores into the Victorian market as possible.

“We have a long list of locations we’d love to get into and South Morang was one of those, because it’s a strong growth corridor in the north of Melbourne, it was the ideal place to have a Home store.”

Harris Scarfe Home stores offer a mix of “hard and soft” products for the home, including bed linen, doonas, dinnerware and cookware.

Mr Dean said over time, they were looking to open another 100 Harris Scarfe stores across the country.

“It’s an aggressive growth plan; so we’ve got a good format that we want to roll out over time,” he said.

Harris Scarfe Home South Morang will also include the newly launched collection from

Chyka Keebaugh.

‘Chyka Home’ features glassware, dinnerware, bed linen and bathroom accessories.

Harris Scarfe Home South Morang opening specials include 40 – 60 per cent off manchester and homewares and 20 – 30 per cent off electrical items.

The new store is at 795 Plenty Rd, South Morang.
