She became a fan favourite at her local footy club’s canteen, and now Rowville’s Michelle Iordanou is whipping up the best burgers in Knox.

The Rowville mum of five’s food truck, Burgerchiefs, has been voted by Leader readers as the home of Knox’s best burgers from a field of eight nominees.

Ms Iordanou cut her teeth as a chef at venues and cafes around Victoria, and has also managed the canteen at Lysterfield Junior Football Club for the past five years.

She started Burgerchiefs two years ago and operates out the front of her Moss Ct home during the week, with customers ordering before 4pm and then picking up their meals.

The truck is also based outside Rowville’s Project Brewing Company on Friday and Saturday nights.

In keeping with her footy club links, Burgerchiefs is the junior club’s major sponsor, and players from Lysterfield’s senior team help her prepare orders.

Ms Iordanou said the support of the club inspired her to start the truck, and she was “totally stoked” to win Leader’s poll.

“I’m really shocked, I’m a huge community worker and I love feeding my community,” she said.

“They have been fabulous and backed us 100 per cent.”

Ms Iordanou said she had customers visit the truck from as far as Narre Warren and Berwick, and she’d also received great support from emergency services workers.

She said her top three most popular burgers included the Oz, the Chief, and the Double Smash, while her loaded gems were also a hit.

Ms Iordanou said she loved “feeding the masses” and wanted to keep growing her business into the future.
