A Boronia dad is offering a $10,000 reward for the return of a stolen mobile phone containing precious images of his baby daughter.
In a post on Facebook Jay Windross said he didn’t have much money but was willing to sell his car to pay for the reward if the phone was returned.
He said it had been a year since his wife Dee’s Samsung Galaxy S8 was stolen from Chadstone shopping centre, taken from the toilets next to Target on April 20.
The phone was full of precious videos and photos of their terminally ill 11-month-old daughter Amiyah, who died a few days after the phone was snatched.
A heartless woman who blackmailed the grieving couple as they cradled their dying daughter in their arms was jailed last month for three years.
Siti Nurhidayah Kamal, 25, exploited the family after she falsely claimed to have their lost phone.
In the Facebook post Mr Windross said someone out there knew where the phone was and had the couple’s memories of their only child.
“We lived an 11-month nightmare, but managed to capture some better times and they were saved on this phone. We now have nothing to look at to remind us of her,” he wrote.
He said they had since found out that Amiyah suffered from a mitochondrial disease and footage on the phone could help geneticists and other behavioural doctors.
“Her movements, her breakouts, her list of events are all incredibly vital information that these specialists require.”
Mr Windross said times were tough at the moment and he had very little money to offer.
“But if you are someone that knows where our phone is, who has our phone … I will sell my car and give the person who leads us to our phone a $10,000 reward when we have it back in our hands,” he said.
Speaking to Knox Leader, Mr Windross said getting the phone back would allow the couple to relive precious moments of their daughter’s life.
“It will be a whole new experience of memories that we haven’t been able to revisit and Dee captured most of her moments on her phone, all the little goals she reached, all the smiles, all the things that she did and especially all the information and videos of her experiences that can help with hopefully if they do find out what caused (her illness) it might help other families,” he said.

HOW MELBOURNE’S NEWEST SHOPPING CENTRE IS STAYING AFLOAT
A mystery Melbourne couple stumped up a $25,000 reward for the return of the missing phone last year, but it’s not clear if that is still being offered.
Mr Windross said anyone with information could contact the couple directly or contact Crime Stoppers and could choose to remain anonymous.
“If they are too frightened to do it and want someone to do it on their behalf we don’t care,” he said.
“We just want the phone, we want our memories.
“Even if it’s been thrown out or discarded at least tell us so we can get some closure on it.”
