Bayswater man arrested after house break in attempt in Bayswater North

A woman was forced to barricade herself inside her Bayswater North house and call police after a man she allegedly knew issued threats and tried to knock down her front door.

A man allegedly tried to break into a Bayswater North house and threatened a woman he knew living there.

Croydon Sergeant Scott McLean said police responded to a call from a woman who had barricaded herself inside her Bayswater Rd home on Saturday, August 22, at 8pm.

Sgt McLean said the woman phoned 000 after a man she knew was banging on her front door, issuing threats and trying break in.

Officers arrived a short time later to find the man still trying to break in and arrested him outside the house.

Sgt McLean said no items were taken and no one was injured in the incident.

A 46-year-old Bayswater man was remanded to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, August 23.

Knox detective Acting Sergeant Paul Spencer said the man was charged with criminal damage and there would be further investigations into an attempted aggravated burglary.

Acting Sgt Spencer said the man was further remanded for two weeks and was likely to face the court again on September 4.
