Aldi fans will be able to live above the discount supermarket at a new development in Boronia.

Featuring 50 apartments ranging in price from $555,000 – $998,000, the multi storey development at 5 Erica Ave includes an Aldi store on the ground level.

First approved by Knox Council back in 2019, apartments at the site are now up for sale.

According to the real estate listing, residents who buy into the development will have access to a lobby, lifts, a business centre, parking and a 300sq m communal courtyard.

Eight of the apartments will be accessible, suitable for people with a disability, and there will be 10 two level penthouses, all with balconies or private terraces.

The development is across from Boronia train station and a major bus interchange, and is close to shops, restaurants and parks.

Stockdale & Leggo selling agent Alan Weston said there had been strong interest in the development.

“I’ve had had calls from investors, families, older people and couples,” he said.

“It was designed to suit really anybody – singles, couples and retirees.

“The (apartments) are predominantly two bedrooms, with some one bedroom and three bedrooms apartments, with all different sorts of layouts.”

“The location is good and with the Aldi downstairs, I think it will be a big drawcard,” Mr Weston said.

He said the supermarket would have basement car parking, while residents would have their own car parking spaces on Level 1.

Mr Weston said there had been a lot of excitement about Aldi opening.

“I’ve been up there (at the site) the last couple of weeks and every time I go up people ask what is happening and if Aldi is opening,” he said.

“It just offers the convenience (for residents in the apartments) to be able to pop down and buy milk and bread – you’ve just got to get there before 8pm (when Aldi normally closes).”

“I’m excited for Boronia- I think it’s the best development since Dorset Square and Boronia Mall, and the railway crossing removal.”

The development is set to be complete by March 2024.

The state government has also contributed $1 million to deliver improvements along Erica Ave, including landscaping, street furniture and paving.
