Seven schools in Melbourne’s north have been ranked among the state’s best, based on 2020 VCE results.

Victoria’s top VCE schools have been revealed in an analysis of their results.

The median study score — which is out of 50 and shows how the entire class performed in their final year of school — has been released for every campus.

Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar was the 20th best performing school in the state, with a median study score of 35.

Ivanhoe Grammar (Mernda campus), Ivanhoe Grammar (Ivanhoe campus), Catholic Ladies College Eltham, Our Lady of Mercy College Heidleberg, St John’s Greek Orthodox College Preston and St Columba’s College Essendon were also in the state’s top 100 performing schools, with median study scores above 30.

Bialik College in Hawthorn, Mount Scopus Memorial College in Burwood and Ballarat Clarendon College were the top three schools across the state in 2020.

Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School principal Dr Deborah Priest congratulated the 94 students from the Class of 2020 on their “outstanding” VCE results.

The school said:

● Five students achieved ATAR scores higher than 99 (5.3 per cent of the cohort)

● 10 students achieved ATAR scores higher than 98 (10.6 per cent of the cohort)

● 26 students achieved ATAR scores higher than 95 (27.7 per cent of the cohort)

● 38 students achieved ATAR scores higher than 90 (40.4 per cent of the cohort).

The Dux was Zhidou (Daisy) Xu from Ivanhoe who achieved an ATAR of 99.85.

Students from the School Leadership Team also performed strongly, including 2020 social service prefect, Elizabeth Hoye from Eaglemont (99.55), 2020 school vice-captain, Pema Hayman from Ivanhoe (99.40), school magazine (Golden Mitre) editor, Mia Babatsikos from Coburg (99.15), 2020 school captain, Dunithi Galagedara from Mill Park (98.70) and 2020 school drama captain, Cassie Horne from Ivanhoe (98.55).

Dr Priest said: “As the pandemic took hold, we all witnessed amazing resilience, adaptability and creativity across the school. While we would easily have forgiven the Class of 2020 had they simply retired to focus on their studies, they shook off the self-doubt, the inevitable challenge and they simply adapted.

“The Class of 2020 has emerged from this year so much stronger than any of us could have imagined and I am proud of each and every one of them.”

On Facebook, Catholic Ladies’ College said: “Congratulations to the CLC Class of 2020, our young women have done an incredible job filled with hard work, resilience and spirit in a year that has made history in every way. We are all very proud of you.”

Dux Georgia Siderov achieved an ATAR of 99.4.
