The key players for every DVCA finals contenders

The end of the DVCA season is drawing closer and key players are needed more than ever. Here are those who could shape the premiership race in the top three grades.

The start of the Diamond Valley Cricket Association finals series is just weeks away.

With just two-and-a-half games remaining, the ladders are really starting to take shape but there is still plenty to play for in the coming weeks.

We’ve broken down the players who will be key to their side’s success.

BARCLAY SHIELD

Nick Carlton, Rosanna

Enjoyed a fine season with the bat and ball having taken 22 wickets, the second most in the competition, at 15.41. Also has chipped in with a handy 235 runs.

Nathan Gardiner, Epping

Enjoying a fine season with more than 300 runs so far including three half-centuries.

Mitchell Hayse, Research Eltham Collegians

Among the leading wicket takers for his side with 14. But with the bat he’s contributed 183 runs.

Josh Henkel, Epping

One of the best performing all-rounders in the competition. Henkel has over 250 runs to his name and 14 wickets.

Sean Money, Riverside

The top tier’s leading wicket taker with 26 scalps for the season at just 13.19. Also has proven to be handy with the bat.

Nick Murray, North Eltham Wanderers

One of the leading performers for his side with the bat so far this season scoring over 260 runs. Also more than handy with the ball with over 15 wickets.

Talwinder Prince, Bundoora

Prince is the leading run scorer for his side this season including two half-centuries and one knock of 112. He can also roll the arm over if needed.

Adam Renwick, Heidelberg

The top wicket taker for the competition leader so far this season. Consistently bowls tight lines but can also keep it tight.

Jacob Smith, Heidelberg

Been in impressive form with the bat this season and after breaking through for his first century, following four knocks of more than 50, Smith could go big.

Rob Wise, Macleod

A handy contributor with bat and ball throughout the season.

Tim Wise, Macleod

Wise was the competition’s leading run scorer heading into the weekend after hitting 547 runs at 60.78 so far. His season has included three half-centuries and a high score of 128. He is also his side’s leading wicket taker.

Jack Young, North Eltham Wanderers

Has proven to be a valuable all-rounder throughout the season scoring important runs and claiming vital wickets.

MONEY SHIELD

Cameron Clayton, Lower Eltham

Has spearheaded the bowling attack for his side who currently sits in second place. Also can score handy runs.

Julian Drohan, Banyule

The leading wicket taker for his side this season and has also proven to be handy with the bat.

Bronson Hill, Bundoora Park

Has been the leading run scorer for his side this season but has also picked up plenty of vital wickets.

Tanuj Namalge, Plenty

The all-rounder has played a key role in his side’s push to the top of the ladder this season with two centuries and over 450 runs plus 14 wickets.

Matthew Salvatore, Greensborough

One of the Money Shield’s leading all-rounders with over 300 runs to his name and a double figure wicket tally. This is his first season as coach.

Joel Thompson, Bundoora United

Comfortably the leading run scorer in the competition so far with over 600 runs to his name including two centuries.

MASH SHIELD

Thissa Bandara, Hurstbridge

Enjoying a fine season with the bat but has also broken games open with the ball.

Michael Di Battista, Thomastown

A couple of half-centuries to his name prove he is more than handy higher up the order but he can be just as influential with the ball.

Karl Heckmann, South Morang

The skipper is flying this season as the competition’s leading run scorer while he’s also among the best wicket takers.

Ruwinda Manimelwadu, Mill Park

Has shown his wonderful all-round abilities throughout the season but it is his batting which has caught the eye most often.

Lachlan Taylor, Mernda

Has enjoyed plenty of damaging spells with the ball this season and looms dangerously in the final rounds.

Cayden Turner, Lower Plenty

Turner’s dominant performances with the ball have been one of the reasons his side is currently the premiership favourite.

Kai Turner, Panton Hill

One of the form bowlers of the competition all season. Has taken over 20 wickets including a couple of five-fors.
