The Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association off-season is well underway and clubs are making moves for next season.

Keep up to date with every move in our signing tracker this off-season.

EAST

BALWYN

Andrew Chalkley: Former Premier batsman Chalkley will pad up for the Tigers this season – bringing a mountain of experience to the rising Subbies outfit. Previously plying his trade for Richmond before a stop at Kew, Chalkley’s latest stop was with Box Hill Reporter club Koonung Heights. Thousands of runs during his stay at Premier level says Chalkley could cause plenty of headaches in his VSDCA return.

BAYSWATER

Joe Heywood: Bayswater’s bowling stocks will be boosted by the inclusion of Heywood, with the UK import set to inject plenty of pace into the eastern club’s attack. The 18-year-old right-arm quick is a member of England’s under-19 team where he’s opened the bowling, and currently plays for Bath in the West of England Premier League while also plying his trade for Devon County. He’s said to have cracked 83mph with the ball. Look out.

NORTH

COBURG

Cam D’Cruz, coach: A man with a “proud history” with the club. A star wicketkeeper-batter.

Harry Fairchild: The club has confirmed the arrival of the English top order bat as an import.

IVANHOE

Nikhil Gorantla: A UK top order bat who the club says is ready to have an “explosive impact”.

ST BERNARD’S

Peter Clark, coach: Englishman Clark has taken over the coaching role at the Snowdogs. He played during the 2023-24 season and scored 413 runs at 25.81.

Rory Collins: The gun wicketkeeper-batter has returned after a one-year hiatus. In his last Subbies campaign, also in 2023-24, Collins hit 422 runs at 26.38 and completed 10 catches and 12 stumpings with the gloves.

SOUTH

BRIGHTON

IN:

Rick Damiano: The champion returns to the Tonners after a season at Langwarrin in the Mornington Peninsula association. With the most centuries in VSDCA history (23), he will strengthen the Tonners’ batting while taking on a role as the club’s batting coach.

Prateek Patil: The talented right-arm off-spinner joins Brighton from Ringwood, bringing a wealth of Premier Cricket experience.

CAULFIELD

Lachlan Graf: After a golden nine-season stint at Caulfield, highlighted by multiple premierships as coach and player, Graf returns to St Kilda as assistant coach and 2nd XI captain.

Andrew King: The paceman has retired with a magnificent record including five premierships, nearly 300 wickets and over 100 matches.

ELSTERNWICK

OUT:

Dasun Opanayaka: The star all-rounder, who won the Col Fraser Club Champion award for 2024-25, has left to join Springvale South in the Dandenong and District association.

ORMOND

IN: Rory Freeman (Doutta Stars), Greg Willows (UK)

PORT MELBOURNE

IN: Finn Kelsey, Tom Odell, Eamonn Crossley, Toby Clark, Monty Cowgill — all from the UK.

WEST

SPOTSWOOD

Paul Baker, coach: Baker has joined as a non-playing coach, replacing Dan Schuppan after six seasons in charge but he will remain as a player. Baker has 18 years of experience with Bacchus Marsh and Newport-Digman.

TAYLORS LAKES

Aidan Brasher: The 20-year-old has returned to his junior club after a stint with Footscray in Premier Cricket. He’s a bowling all-rounder.

Shijit Chandran: A major move for the club after securing one of the best top order bats from rivals Hoppers Crossing. Can bowl handy off-spin as well.

WERRIBEE

Brad Robertson, coach: A former Premier cricketer with Footscray, he returns to Werribee after a long stint with Williamstown CYMS.
