Clubs across the Diamond Valley Cricket Association have started making moves as they aim to chase down Riverside.
The reigning Barclay Shield premier has a change of their own though with club’s senior coach stepping down.
Here’s a wrap of all the latest news from across the competition.
Former Subbies star named Montmorency coach
Mash Shield outfit Montmorency has turned to a former Subbies cricket star as its new coach for the next two seasons.
The Magpies unveiled Andrew Bennett as the man to lead the club forward in a social media post on Monday night.
“Andrew brings with him a wealth of cricket knowledge and experience, including a long association with the Plenty Valley Cricket and Epping Cricket Clubs in playing and coaching roles,” the club said.
New face to lead reigning premier
Xavier Youngman has decided to step down as Riverside’s senior coach for the 2022-23 season.
In a social media post last week, the club said Youngman had decided to take a “step back” due to the upcoming birth of his first child.
He led the club to the Barclay Shield and B-Grade premierships last season with five out of seven of the club’s senior teams making finals.
“We would like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of our senior coach Xavier Youngman this season,” the club said in a social media post.
“His co-ordination of over 100 players at training and selection while dealing with restrictions and a shortened pre-season was tremendous.”
Rosanna appoint ner senior coach
Chris Milne is the new man in charge at Rosanna.
He will lead the club into the 2022-23 season as it looks to challenge for a finals position after finishing seventh last campaign.
“Chris has an extensive playing/coaching background and has strong experience in elite work and sporting environments,” the club said in a social media post.
“Chris has a strong passion for working with and developing others within sporting organisations and is looking forward to driving a culture of success and improvement throughout the club.”
Lower Plenty turns to rival club’s former coach
Mash Shield outfit Lower Plenty announced the arrival of Michael Cocks as the club’s new coach earlier this month.
Cocks has a range of DVCA experience including with Old Paradians where he won the Money Shield premiership.
“This will be an exciting journey for the club as we look to create a sustainable winning culture for the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, the club also announced the return of Ben Rowe to the club.
New coach for Barclay Shield battlers
Research Eltham Collegians’ bid to move up the Barclay Shield ladder has been boosted by the appointment of Michael Berry as the club’s new senior coach.
Berry crosses from Hurstbridge where he was recently the captain of the First XI.
He also has experience with Broadford, Assumption College Kilmore, Airport West and Hadfield.
North Eltham Wanderers announce coaching structure
Matthew Simpson will again be in charge of North Eltham Wanderers for the upcoming season.
The club announced last week that Simpson has re-signed for a further two seasons.
In further news, Lachie McLeod has stepped up into an assistant coaching position alongside Jayden Bradbury.
Jake Lambert will again captain the side.
