A dangerous gas leak inside a Preston home happened after bungled DIY home repairs.
Gas started leaking out of a Townhall Avenue home when a domestic gas line was tampered with about 12.30pm.
The Melbourne City News understands the domestic gas line running through the house was accidentally drilled through by the occupant making some home repairs.
Two MFB trucks arrived on scene shortly after and evacuated the home.
The situation is now under control and the gas company is heading to the Townhall Avenue address to fix the leak.
An MFB truck will stay at the property until repairs are complete.
