No end in sight for Sunbury’s motorists 30-year Jacksons Hill road wait
It was first touted as a vital road connection for Sunbury commuters three decades ago, but the project has still not started. Now, a MP is upping the ante on local bureaucrats to get it done as a “matter of urgency”.

Sunbury motorists are still waiting on a road proposed to be built by the council two decades ago.
Sunbury state Labor MP Josh Bull said he had written to the council regarding the construction of a Jacksons Hill connector road via Yirangan Rd through Buckland Way as a “matter of urgency”.
“As you are well aware this project and its importance is widely acknowledged across government, council and the community,” the letter read.
“Local residents have waited too long for this road, one that was promised to them decades ago.
“I am sure we can both agree that a two-decade wait is hardly imminent nor acceptable.
“I seek an urgent meeting with you to discuss this matter.”
The building of the road would provide another path for motorists to access Jacksons Hill, the Sunbury town centre and to enter the Calder Fwy.
The road was outlined in the early 1990s by the Hume Council, which notes the “imminent construction” of the connector road to be built in the early 2000s.

In 2012 the council’s Hume Integrated Growth Area Plan Spatial Strategy document noted it as a key connections road to the Calder Fwy.
Mr Bull said all State Government planning approvals were in place for the road’s construction.
He said with the imminent removal of the Sunbury level crossing, motorists would need alternative road options during construction.
Hume Council Mayor Carly Moore has been contacted for comment.
