A coronavirus testing centre has been set up in Sunbury as part of the State Government’s push to ramp up community health checks.

Sunbury Community Health opened it’s doors to offer the community free tests from Tuesday, a fortnight after tradies and businesses partnered to build a screening clinic at the Kyneton Hospital.

The new testing clinic is part of a State Government blitz to better understand the community spread of the virus and to work towards easing restrictions.

Industries with essential workers will be targeted for testing including construction workers, supermarket staff, healthcare and aged care workers.

Macedon state Labor MP Mary-Anne Thomas has urged anyone with symptoms to get tested.

“These local testing centres make it easy as possible for people across in the southern area of the Macedon Ranges, particularly Gisborne, Romsey, and Riddells Creek to be tested,” Ms Thomas said.

“It doesn’t matter how mild your symptoms are, if you have fever, breathing difficulties, or a scratchy throat, I encourage you to get tested.”

SHOULD I GET TESTED?

Anyone over the age of six has been advised to get testing if they have any of the following symptoms no matter how mild:

– Runny nose

– Sore or scratchy throat

– Fever

– Breathing difficulties

– Breathlessness

– Cough

– Fatigue

– Tiredness
