Macedon Ranges businesses have come together to create a Respiratory Assessment Clinic for Kyneton District Health – in one week.
The three assessment rooms – located in the old ambulance bay of the Kyneton Hospital on Caroline Chisholm Drive – were built by local tradesmen and businesses, who donated time and free or discounted materials to create the spaces.
The new clinic allows patients suspected of coronavirus to be seen in a separate area than the main hospital.
Kyneton District Health chief executive Maree Cuddihy said it was built after concerns were raised for increased cases of COVID-19 and the common flu in colder months.
“The clinic itself actually builds on the corona (virus) screening service that we’ve had in place since mid March,” she said.
About 200 people have used the clinic since its opening, with an average of eight to 10 people tested for coronavirus each day.
