The comfortable re-election of Broadmeadows MP Frank McGuire and Yuroke MP Ros Spence has cemented Labor’s stronghold in Hume.
But voters have warned them not get complacent.
The enormous swing to Mr McGuire defined Broadmeadows as the safest seat in Victoria, recording an impressive two-party preferred vote of 81.26 per cent.

“I’m humbled and grateful,” Mr McGuire said of securing the seat for another term.
“The big picture here is how we create opportunities, revitalise the community and attract new jobs.”
Ms Spence said she was “thrilled” about reclaiming the seat of Yuroke, despite mounting pressure from Liberal candidate Jim Overend.
“It’s a very good result,” she said of recording a two-party preferred vote of 70.53 per cent.
“It shows that the local community is happy with what this Labor government is doing.”
Jobs, infrastructure and education were listed as top priorities for Ms Spence and Mr McGuire.
Mr McGuire said he would continue to advocate for greater access to education and employment opportunities, which included pushing to redevelop the former Ford factory site in Broadmeadows into a “site for industries and jobs”.
Ms Spence said transport and infrastructure were key issues raised by constituents along the campaign trail.
“Construction work will start on the duplication of Craigieburn Rd, and I’ll keep advocating for the duplication of Mickleham and Somerton roads too,” she said.
“I’ll also work on getting the new schools built.”
The Labor government has promised to build Greenvale North West Primary School, Merrifield West Primary School, Greenvale Secondary School and Kalkallo Common Primary School by 2022.

However, despite Labor’s landslide win at the state election, Hume voters have warned their elected officials not to rest on their laurels.
Broadmeadows Progress Association member Marina Grobisa called on Mr McGuire to support the action group’s fight to halt housing developments at the former Broadmeadows Primary School site and former Hard Yakka site.
“There is a serious lack of infrastructure and public space in Broadmeadows,” she said.
“We had over 700 signatures on our petition regarding the former Broadmeadows Primary School site and Mr McGuire has said nothing.”
Hume Mayor Carly Moore said she looked forward to working with Hume’s re-elected MPs to deliver more projects for the community.
