A drunken Englishman P-plater’s driving was so bad Down Under a fellow road user was forced to call the police to get him off the road, a court has heard.
Jamie Prescott, 39, had been drinking beer for a celebration when he got in his car on May 31 and began driving through the northern suburbs, Heidelberg Magistrates Court heard.
But his driving was so bad — swerving across lanes and changing speeds — a witness phoned 000, as he approached 7-Eleven in Yallambie, the court heard.
When police stopped him on Lower Plenty Rd, Rosanna about 1.10am he did not have a licence on him and had alcohol on his breath.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Matt Isaac said a further test showed his blood alcohol content to be 0.152 at 3am.
Prescott told the court he had been drinking beer for a celebration hours earlier, but had been sober for the eight months since the incident

The warehouse manager said he was a P-plater because he had moved from London and hadn’t needed a licence until recently.
Prescott pleading guilty to drink driving and failing to carry a licence
Magistrate Stephen Ballek said he accepted the man understood the “stupidity” of driving at more than three times the legal limit, pointing out the effects of the alcohol were so significant his driving worried a witness.
Prescott’s licence was disqualified for 15 months from the incident and he was fined $850 without conviction.
