The operators of Funfields Themepark are hoping to welcome back visitors from October 31.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Funfields said it was intending to reopen the park on the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
“We are planning thoroughly to ensure the upcoming season is COVID-safe. Of course this opening is subject to government guidance,” the post said.
“We have our fingers and toes crossed that we can all be back together creating memories again soon.
“Keep going Victorians, we’ve got this – fun is just around the corner.”
Funfields general manager – operations Sam Holdich said they were thrilled with the prospect of reopening and welcoming back customers.
“It has been a difficult time for a lot of Victorians so we are looking forward to helping to put some smiles back on the faces of our guests and helping them to create memories with us here at the Funfields,” he said.
Mr Holdich said the safety of guests and team members was of the upmost importance.
“We are working closely with other industry partners, as well as government bodies, to ensure that we are adhering to all social distancing and hygiene requirements to create a COVID safe environment for our Funfields community,” he said.
“Our team has been busy ensuring that we have the required safety steps and COVID safe plans in place for our customers and team. This includes increased cleaning regimes, sanitiser stations, staff training and also ensuring we are adhering to capacity restrictions and social distancing guidelines set out by the Victorian Government.”
On the Funfields website the operators said as the 2019-20 season was unexpectedly reduced by 18 operating days, all 2019-20 season pass holders and unused pre-purchased day tickets would be valid for use within the first 18 operating days of the 2020-21 season.
The park is home to several huge water slides including the Gravity Wave, where riders board their raft and launch off a 26.8m platform and Victoria’s first heated outdoor wave pool.
