Funfields management expect the Gravity Wave and the Voodoo to be a hit with summer thrill seekers.

The Gravity Wave works by having riders board their raft and launch off a 26.8 metre high platform, hurtling down 186 metres of open and closed tubing before plunging into the gravity pool.

South Morang girl, Shelby Coall, 16, was among the the first group to try the ride after she won a competition.

“I saw it and I was so scared that I was about to back out but I’m glad I didn’t because it was awesome,” she said.

“Your tummy drops and it’s a bit of a challenge but I couldn’t wait to go back on it.”

Ms Coall said she had been on many rides but nothing compared to the Gravity Wave.

She also had the chance to try out the park’s other new ride, The Voodoo, where riders are swept off their feet and hurtled 18 metres into the air in a looping 360 degree frenzy.

“The Voodoo was awesome, I’m looking forward to coming back to the park with my friends,” she said.

Funfields owner John Verga hoped people from across the state tried the new rides.

“These are world class rides we think most people will enjoy,” he said.

Funfields Theme Park has been a family-owned enterprise for more than 30 years since its first incarnation as the Alpine Toboggan Park back in 1985.
