Driver dead, passenger fighting for life as police investigate West Rd, Pyalong fatal crash

A Pyalong man has died and a woman is fighting for life in hospital after a devastating crash in Central Victoria overnight.

A horror incident in Central Victoria has left one man dead and a woman fighting for life as police investigate the cause of the crash.

Police have opened an investigation to determine what happened before a devastating fatal crash at Pyalong, north of Kilmore, on Sunday night.

The driver, a 51-year-old Pyalong man, died at the scene.

His passenger, a 51-year-old Pyalong woman, was flown to hospital after sustaining life-threatening head injuries.

She remained in a critical condition on Monday morning.

Early investigations indicate the vehicle was travelling east on West Rd about 7.20pm when it failed to navigate a bend.

The exact circumstances of the crash are yet to be determined and police have urged any witness or those with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
