Looking for a way to get into the spirit of giving this Christmas? Diamond Valley Foodshare is seeking donations of non-perishable food donations for parcels to give families in need.
The charity is running a Christmas food appeal in partnership with Greensborough Plaza, as it faces one of the busiest times of the year.
Last Christmas, the organisation provided 158 parcels to 435 needy families and individuals in Banyule.

President Robyn Davis said Christmas was a particularly difficult time of year for struggling families. “The last month or so, we’ve had more clients come to us,” she said.
“Leading up to Christmas, families have so much more expense with trying to buy Christmas presents, and after Christmas there are school uniforms, books and everything needed to start the new year. It’s a particularly expensive time of year, and unfortunately families leave food at the bottom of the list.”
The organisation is seeking non-perishable food such as canned vegetables, rolled oats, brown rice, long-life milk, biscuits, cereal and canned Christmas food items.
Donations can be dropped off at Greensborough Plaza — Level 2, customer service desk until December 20.
