JOBSEEKERS hoping to land work at Epping’s new $40 million Costco Warehouse should polish their resumes, with the company set to begin recruiting in coming weeks.
Construction on Melbourne’s newest Costco is progressing so well that a temporary office will be set up on site from Monday.
Pacific Epping, which owns the land that the American discounter will be built on, last year upgraded and built a number of roads around the 13,788sq m store site.
Road works include an extension of Childs Rd, through Deveny Rd to Edgars Rd.
Whittlesea Council approved the $30 million Costco store in 2013.
The warehouse is expected to create 250 full-time and part-time jobs when it opens later this year, and Costco managing director Patrick Noone said the mega wholesaler focused on finding the right employees through a rigorous recruitment process.
“To be a successful employee, you need to be able to provide excellent and superior service to our members, be willing to learn new skills and work across different departments,” he said.
The new store will need front-end cashiers, fuel station attendants, tyre installers, forklift drivers, bakery and service deli staff, and food court assistants.
Costco employees get free membership for the life of their employment.
The store will be the fourth Costco in Victoria and only the second with a fuel station.
Mr Noone said there were plans to open another warehouse in Melbourne this year, but a location has not been announced.
“Following that, our expansion will continue at the rate of about one warehouse per year,” he said.
