Costco to open its doors to Melbourne shoppers for one day

RETAIL giant Costco will throw open its doors to non-members for a one-day-only Christmas shopping spree targeted at Melbourne mums.
The company is inviting shoppers to splurge for a day, taking advantage of the wholesale prices that usually only paying members enjoy.

“Have you ever wanted to shop at Costco but never had the opportunity?” the invitation reads.
“For one day — November 28 — Costco Melbourne will run an event where Melbourne mums will be able to take the opportunity to get a first-hand look at what we have to offer, without having to pay the membership fee.”
Members pay $55 per year for business membership and $60 for gold star membership to shop at the huge warehouses and buy everything from coffins to groceries at wholesale cost.
At the Moorabbin Aiport store alone, there is 13,750sq m of jam packed warehouse to explore.
Since first arriving in Australia in 2009 with its maiden warehouse store in Melbourne’s Docklands, Costco has racked up more than $5 billion in sales.
It opened its eighth Australian store at Moorabbin Airport in November 2015, two years after the Ringwood store opened in Bond St.
Anyone who decides, following the come-and-try event, to sign up for membership will be offered a hamper full of Costco products worth more than $100.
The event is from 10am to 8.30pm on November 28 at all Costco stores in Melbourne.
