CHRISTMAS shoppers are going crazy for a giant 93-inch teddy bear, with hundreds sold and just seven left at Moorabbin Costco – and the hefty price tag is proving no deterrent.

NEED a really big Christmas hug? You need to hurry.
Just seven of Australia’s biggest and cuddliest stuffed toys are left in a Moorabbin warehouse waiting for their forever home.
Costco to open its doors to Melbourne shoppers for one day
The seriously huggable giant Costco teddy bear is so popular that only a few remain in the airport store.
Hundreds of lucky families across the south east have given a home to the 93-inch plush mega-cuddle, with on average two to three sold every week at the warehouse despite the $280 price tag.
This year marks the Moorabbin store’s third and, it says, best Christmas trading period to date.
Aside from the giant bear, a Hatchimals glittering garden with two bonus CollEGGtibles and a Disney princess toddler doll are among the top-selling toys of the store’s Christmas range.
But right at the top of the Christmas Coscto shopper’s list is a 45m pack of Christmas ribbon that comes in mixed patterns and colours and sells for about $12.
In third place, behind the big bear, is a 10-pack of Olde English Christmas Crackers.
And the fastest festive seller this year has been a $149.99 nativity set that’s been flying off the shelves.
“That’s the one that came in and sold out the fastest,” Mr Hansen said.
“We sold 106 units — the first round sold out in two weeks and the second one sold out in four weeks.”
Costco opened its eighth Australian store at Moorabbin Airport in November 2015 with $15 million dollars of stock on sale.
The 13,750sq m warehouse stocks everything from toilet paper to coffins.
“The warehouse merchandise sales are up year on year,” Mr Hansen said.
