A serial sex fiend has struck again in Epping, performing a sex act at the front window of a barbecue restaurant in broad daylight.
Clint Cowman was sentenced to five months’ jail when he fronted Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 5, having pleaded guilty to a number of charges.
The 36-year-old terrorised a young female employee and her sister who were inside the restaurant by masturbating towards them after 3.30pm on September 24.
Cowman, who was on the footpath outside the venue, began performing a lewd act while sitting down opposite its front window, with his legs spread.
He was in full view of the women, but he moved to make his vile actions more obvious — standing up, pulling his pants down around his ankles and performing the sex act right in front of the window.
The court heard the incident started when the woman arrived at work and Cowman approached and talked to her while he drank a beer.
Cowman then left the area, returning later with another man, and the pair sat and smoked beneath the restaurant’s kitchen window.
The frightened employee locked the door and called her sister to come to the venue.
It was after the other man left and the worker’s sister arrived to be with her that Cowman performed the gross act.
The court heard the women were very shaken and scared by what happened.
The court heard Cowman had previously been a registered sex offender since 2014, having prior convictions for sex crimes including rape and loitering near a near school as a sex offender.
He also faced a charge for failing to report to the sex offenders registry after he was released from prison in June and a charge for being drunk and disorderly and having cannabis at Reservoir station in August.
The court heard Cowman was homeless at times and had schizophrenia, but the condition could not be blamed for his offending.
Magistrate Denise Livingstone fined him $200 for having the cannabis.
