Rebecca Mccue allegedly assaults police on Janefield Drive, Bundoora

A girl was allegedly naked from the waist down when she initiated a “bizarre” and “totally frightening” attack on a Bundoora driver innocently eating an ice cream. She allegedly then went on to savage two cops.

Rebecca Mccue has been granted bail.

A woman was driving through Bundoora when a semi-naked girl dived into her car, ate her ice cream, climbed into her lap and tried to drive away.

The pantless 18-year-old, who has been charged with attempted carjacking, then allegedly went on to assault multiple police officers.

Rebecca Mccue, fronted Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 16, with a magistrate and police deeming her a huge risk to herself and the community.

She was allegedly high on ice when she ran onto Janefield Drive wearing nothing but a T-shirt about 2.30pm on September 29.

She allegedly jumped into a trailer of a moving tree-logging truck, and after the driver stopped and coaxed her out, ran up to a car.

Mccue allegedly reached into the open passenger window and grabbed the driver’s frozen coke, drinking it, before she climbed head first into the car.

She allegedly then began eating the driver’s ice cream while the woman turned off the car and phoned 000.

Mccue allegedly then climbed on top of the woman and reached for the keys in the ignition and pushed the accelerator, while the highly distressed woman kept her foot on the brake and tried to stop Mccue restarting the car.

A witness ran to help the crying woman and got Mccue out of the car.

But Mccue allegedly climbed straight back in through the open passenger window, smashing the glass, then punched the car windscreen, cracking it, and stayed in the car until police and an ambulance arrived.

When police were putting Mccue in the ambulance she allegedly bit an officer’s arm.

At Northern Hospital later that evening Mccue allegedly kicked another officer in the head when she was told she couldn’t leave.

Senior Constable Peter Anderson said Mccue’s heavy drug use was clearly a serious issue, with the teen having previously been found passed out on a bed in someone else’s house with two syringes nearby.

He said the woman was still seeking counselling weeks after her encounter with Mccue.

Lawyer Travis Brown conceded Mccue’s “bizarre” episode had been caused by a drug-induced psychosis, not mental health issues.

Magistrate Denise Livingstone said several people could have been killed during the “totally frightening” incident.

“She must have been under a lucky star,” she said.

Ms Livingstone said Mccue’s erratic and dangerous behaviour due to drug taking made her a serious risk to herself and the community.

She said Mccue was close to being an unacceptable risk to the public, but bailed her to live in Traralgon under the supervision of her grandmother because of her young age.
