“All our local units, including highway patrol, are aware of it and keeping an eye on it. I’m sure someone in Sunbury knows exactly who is riding it,” Sen-Sgt Pope said.
“Don’t approach the rider. If you want to give us any information, give us a ring. If you’d prefer to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers.”
Canterbury Hills resident Jade Andersen said she was worried about other motorists and pedestrians.
“One of the main concerns is not only that it’s disruptive, but it’s also really dangerous. I’m constantly waiting for the big bang at the end,” she said.
“You wait for the sirens and think here we go again. It’s so constant and it’s dangerous to everyone else on the road. That’s the scariest thing.”
Readers have reported hearing the motorbike across Sunbury and Goonawarra.
Police have appealed for witnesses and stepped up patrols around the Ashfield housing estate and Boardman Reserve after reports of hooning in the area.
Elizabeth Drive resident Dave Wilkes said he heard the bike roar around at least once a week.
“He’ll go a hundred miles an hour. You can hear him go up Vineyard Rd for kilometres,” he said.
“Sometimes it’s happening at 2-3am in the morning. It wakes me up.”
Anyone with information should contact Sunbury police station on 9744 8111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
