Grose has enjoyed a consistent maiden campaign at Yarraville, taking two wickets in five games and one haul of 3-58 before his Round 11 heroics.
He collected the opening five wickets and sealed a 34-run victory with the final two scalps as the Eagles rolled Melton for 179 after making 8-213 on day one.
“I felt like I have been bowling really well across all the two-day games we have had this year,” Grose said.
“Even though I haven’t taken a big bag yet, I felt like it wasn’t far away.
“I just needed to be given the opportunity to bowl a lot of overs and have the right conditions.”
Grose was full of praise for the performance of skipper Nathan Allen, who took three important catches and claimed the prized scalp of Ben MacRae (64) when the Lions had been 5-130.
“Nathan Allen chipped in with some really important moments as well,” Grose said.
“He took two really good slips catches and an absolute screamer when the game was on the line.
“We were thrilled to get the result away from home.”
Allen finished with 2-40, while Josh Rayner (1-35) was the other wicket-taker.
The result has Yarraville three points clear of Ormond in sixth as it prepares to host the Monders in a two-day fixture which starts this weekend.
“The teams we have got in the last two rounds are not far away from us on the table,” Grose said.
“The equation is pretty simple — we just need to keep winning.
“We just know that if we keep winning we’ll play finals and if not, we’ll miss out.
“We are treating every game like it’s a 10-point game and going in with a really attacking mindset.”
A victory in Round 12 would all but seal the Eagles’ top-six spot ahead of their last game of the home-and-away season against Elsternwick.
