Art fanatics are in for a treat when the Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington’s inaugural art kicks off next month.
Artists young and old have entered their masterpieces into the show at the Kensington Town Hall from October 4 to 6.
It includes four categories for youngsters, with prizes ranging from $50 to $1000, as well as traditional categories.
The event will also include children’s art and craft activities, as well as food and music.
Strathmore artist Gwendoline Krumins, 64, said a lot of her pieces were made during her recent travels.
“I do a lot of sketching when I travel but I don’t really get time to paint so I take lots of photos and sketchers based on those experiences,” she said.
“There are quite a few countries represented in my work, and Daylesford, a country town that I absolutely adore.”
The artist said her style was about storytelling and tonal impression.
“I’ve been an artist well over 55 years, my father used to paint a bit and he would do portraits of me sitting in the kitchen and watching him inspired me,” Krumins said.

The show will kick off with a gala cocktail evening on the Friday.
It will then be open from 9am to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday.
The gala is a fundraiser for the charity One Girl, which provides educational opportunities to girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda.
