Police shoot man during standoff in Gladstone Park parkland
A man has been shot dead by police in Gladstone Park after witnesses reported a violent assault between a man and a woman at a park.

A man has died and a woman is in a critical condition after a police shooting in Gladstone Park on Thursday.
The coroner is visiting the site this morning to begin the investigation into the Katrina Drive fatal, which occurred about 3.30pm yesterday.
Police were called to parkland following reports a man was assaulting a woman about 3.30pm, and a standoff between them and the man ensued.
Shots were fired and the man was killed, while the woman is believed to be in a critical condition and receiving medical treatment.
State Coroner John Cain was at the site this morning and has ordered Victoria Police to compile a brief of evidence.
The coroner’s investigation will seek to establish the identity of the deceased man, the cause if his death and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call police.
