Pizza restaurant Shop225 first with Coeliac Australia accreditation

FOR pizza guru Lorenzo Tron there would be nothing worse than a life without pizza.
That’s part of the reason his top rated pizzeria Shop225 is the first in Australia to be accredited for its gluten free options by Coeliac Australia.

“Being a coeliac is not fun, you never want to go out and try your luck. Now you can feel safe to come in and eat,” he said.
Mr Tron said he started developing a gluten-free base because his wife was gluten intolerant and soon branched out into lactose free and vegan pizzas.
“It’s about 15 per cent of the business now. Between Friday and Sunday we went through about 200 (gluten free pizzas),” he said.
The shop gets visitors from all over Victoria coming to try the pizza and Mr Tron said some diners chose the gluten-free base as a lighter alternative.
The team at Shop225 develop all the vegan and lactose-free cheese on site and outline steps from waiter to takeaway container to prevent gluten contamination.
Coeliac Australia project officer Cathy Di Bella said the store had to meet stringent requirements and it was exciting for the gluten free community to “put pizza back on the menu”.

A second location in Moonee Ponds will open in December.
