Hume Council has found ways to innovatively connect and support the community as coronavirus destabilises daily lives and routines.
The council will aim to counter the impacts of social isolation as part of its #HumeTogether campaign.
As part of the campaign, many classes and activities will be streamed via Facebook, including library story time as well as fitness and yoga classes.
Mayor Carly Moore said the council was committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of its community, despite regular programs being cancelled.
“While these activities are not currently taking place and social distancing is a necessity at this time, we do not want it to lead to loneliness and isolation,” she said.
“Along with new ways to connect and enjoy council programs, the campaign will also continue to inform residents of the many regular services that are still currently available.”
The campaign will include four branches, Together at Home, Together in Health and Wellbeing, Together in Business and Together in Learning.

These will support and highlight programs and services still in operation.
“Over the coming days, weeks and maybe even months, you will start seeing the colour yellow across many of our services and the hashtag #HumeTogether on our social media channels,” Ms Moore said.
“Whether it’s driving on our roads or buying groceries at your local supermarket and treating staff with respect, it is easy to demonstrate kindness in all of your actions.”
