Essendon producer Emma Sharp and comedian Matt Stewart have taken out two coveted Antenna Awards for their Australian themed show.
The duo, and their team from Stupid Old Studios in Brunswick, took out the gong for Best Comedy Program for their show Australia, Get It Up Ya! at the 2019 Antenna Awards hosted by Channel 31.
Director Evan Munro-Smith also took out the award for Outstanding Direction in a Program.
Ms Sharp said the win was “extra sweet” because it was the first Antenna Awards to take place in five years.
“It was really cool because we were up against five years worth of programs, so it was pretty stiff competition,” she said.
“It felt a bit surreal when they read our name, we were surprised but it was really nice.”
The show was also nominated for three other awards, including Outstanding Camera Work in a Program and Program of the Year.

The six-episode series, filmed in 2015, was set all around Australia and included skits based on capital cities or big issues happening at the time.
The team took three months travelling around the country on weekends to film it with a $20,000 budget.
“It was a huge amount of work, we were all working for free on top of our full-time jobs so it was nice to win some awards for that,” Ms Sharp said.
“It was a testament to how good those guys were because it was still such good quality.”
The studio are planning on re-releasing the show as a short web series in the near future.
Although there won’t be a second season, the studio has some other new projects on the go including a podcast series called Do Go On and a second series of a comedy sketch show called Bulk Billing.
