Noble Park speedster jailed after narrowly missing motorists in daring drive down busy road

A Noble Park man stunned onlookers by speeding down a street, forcing motorists to swerve out of his way, before veering onto a median strip and running a red light. And he found himself in more trouble after police finally caught up with him.

A Noble Park speedster was forced to spend his 21st birthday behind bars after narrowly missing innocent drivers as he floored it down a busy road.

And Micah Graham will have to spend another six weeks in jail after commuters were forced to swerve out of his way as he sped 100km/h in a 60km/h zone along Jacksons Rd on April 15.

The Dandenong Magistrates’ Court heard Graham, who hadn’t obtained a learner’s permit, was observed by police veering onto the median strip before running a red light as others had to take “evasive action” to miss him.

Police followed Graham to Ashburton where he made a dramatic attempt to avoid them by climbing onto the roof of a block of flats before eventually agreeing to get down.

During a pat down officers discovered a bag containing ice as well as Valium tablets, a pair of gloves, scissors and a metal vial.

The incident followed the discovery of Graham’s DNA on a cigarette inside a stolen red Mazda which was found on a Noble Park nature strip on February 15, and another incident where CCTV captured Graham entering an open garage at an address in Springvale and taking a car remote on May 17 last year.

Graham, who was supported by his mother in court, pleaded guilty to a number of charges including driving without a licence.

The defence said Graham had already spent 77 days in custody, had good support from his family and would stay at his mother’s Noble Park home when he was released.

“Driving at 100km/h in a 60km/h zone is concerning,” Magistrate Suzette Dootjes said.

Graham was jailed for four months with 77 days already spent on remand, fined $1200 and disqualified from obtaining a licence for six months.
