What can you expect to pay at private schools in Mildura in 2024

Despite the cost of living crisis worsening across Australia, Mildura parents are still forking out thousands for a private education. See how much the most expensive schools cost.

With the holiday period rapidly becoming a memory, the new school year is the talk of many families dinner tables.

As the crippling cost of living crisis hampers the majority of families in Australia, many still plan to send their children to private schools in Mildura.

But just how much does it cost and does that fee equal high results in Naplan and ATAR testing?

ST JOSEPHS COLLEGE

Starting with one of the pricier high schools in the region, in 2023 no fewer than eight St Josephs students received ATAR scores that surpassed 90.

In 2023, it would cost families sending one child to St Josephs in Year 7 $4509 according to their website.

The fees for a Year 7 student this year have increased by almost 5 per cent, with payments starting at $4734.

Year 8 through Year 12 at the school has a differing price structure, and in 2024 parents can expect to pay $5963 to send their child to St Joseph’s College in Mildura.

Last year fees for the same grades sat at $5679, according to the schools official website, an increase slightly above 5 per cent.

TRINITY LUTHERAN COLLEGE

Toward the end of the 2023 school year, Trinity Lutheran College unveiled renovations they dubbed “Learning Spaces of the Future”.

And if you want your child to experience these futuristic learning spaces, you will need to dig deep.

For year 7 and 8 students attending Trinity Lutheran College, parents can expect to pay $5300 for the 2024 school year.

That figure is made up of $3810 in tuition fees and $1490 in composite fees.

For year 9 and above, school fees begin at $6350.

That fee is made up of $4531 in tuition fees and $1819 in composite fees.

Parents looking to go on a payment plan will need to fork out $158.75 per week.

Trinity Lutheran also boasts the best NAPLAN score for a secondary school in the Mildura region as of February 2023, scoring an average of 586.40 and ranking 197th in the state.

HENDERSON COLLEGE

Henderson College, located on the outskirts of Mildura, prides itself on “creating a culture of learning that inspires and equips students to be young people known for their confidence, capability, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, courage, collaboration, and commitment”.

This year immersing your high school aged child in that culture will set you back no less than $4536.

Parents looking for a payment plan will be paying $197.22 per fortnight.

It is a very small increase on their 2023 fees, which sat at $4400.

Compared to other schools in the area, it is a much smaller increase, sitting around 3 per cent.

MILDURA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

Mildura Christian College not only boasts some of the lowest private school fees in the region, but it also has an art teacher, Katrina Wheaton, hosting her first ever exhibition, Art Love, Art Hound, at Mildura Art Centre this month.

The most cost effective of all the private schools in Mildura, a year’s tuition will set parents of secondary students back $2365, nearly $2000 less than their closest counterparts.

In 2023, some eight students achieved ATAR scores over 90, with the dux of the school also winning best guitarist at Australia’s Rock Fest competition, highlighting the school’s emphasis on the arts and academia.
