a Swan Hill man has been charged after he allegedly breached a firearm prohibition order (FPO) and was allegedly found with drugs at his property.
Detectives from VIPER Taskforce, along with teams from Swan Hill and Mildura, carried out a search warrant at a Swan Hill property on Wednesday morning.
As a result the police located ammunition, a scope (a tube with lenses for magnification to see at longer distances than the natural eye can normally see),, meth, LSD and cannabis.
A 32-year-old Swan Hill man was charged with possess firearm related item in contravention of FPO, commit indictable offence whist on bail and possess drug of dependence.
He was remanded to appear at Swan Hill Magistrates’ Court in early November.
VIPER Task-force was in the Swan Hill area from Monday to Wednesday to help Echo Taskforce and Western Region in monitoring the Outlaws Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) run.
While they were there, VIPER also assisted Western Region police with a number of FPO compliance searches and search warrants.
Detective Inspector Craig Darlow with the VIPER Taskforce said this was a reminder the task-force could and would operate anywhere.
“Those living in regional areas shouldn’t feel more comfortable. If you are involved in criminal activity anywhere in Victoria, you are not out of our reach. We can and will target you,” he said.
“This week‘s enforcement sends a clear message – police will use every power they have to prevent you from causing harm to our communities.”
