Suspicious blaze on Walnut Ave in Mildura is being investigated by police

The cause of fire at an abandoned house on a busy street in Mildura has been deemed suspicious by investigators.

FRV and the CFA were called to the scene at 9am on Tuesday morning.

A search of the property by firefighters found no one inside the house.

“At 9.01am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was called to an incident on Walnut Ave at Mildura after a caller to triple-0 (000) reported a house fire. CFA firefighters also attended this incident,” an FRV spokesman said.

Firefighters had the inferno under control in under 10 minutes.

“No one was inside at the time and the property is believed to be abandoned,” a Victoria police spkeswoman said.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the fire are yet to be established and investigations remain ongoing.”
