The longest winning and losing streaks from Victorian local footy

The 2025 local footy season might only be a couple of weeks old, but the state’s longest winning and losing streaks continue to extend. See who takes top spot.

The 2025 local footy season might only be a couple of weeks old, but the state’s longest winning and losing streaks continue to extend.

Harrow Balmoral has the longest undefeated streak of 37 games with the next best 15 back.

With Maryborough in recess there is now another club with the most losses in a row.

WINNING STREAKS:

Harrow Balmoral – 40 wins

The most dominant team in local footy. The Kangaroos have not been beaten since 2022 in the Horsham league and have won the last two premierships in unbeaten seasons. Has won the opening four games of the season and has a bye this weekend.

Murchison-Toolamba – 21 wins, two draws

The streak almost ended twice for the Grasshoppers last year, drawing twice during the season. Murchison-Toolamba won the Kyabram District premiership last season and was unbeaten in all 18 games. Has had no issues in the first five matches this season to stay unbeaten.

Congupna – 19 wins

After losing to Finley in the early part of the season, The Road bounced back, beating the Cats twice to win the premiership. Congupna is currently on an 19-game winning streak after winning its last 14 games in 2024 and first five in 2025 by an average of more than 100 points. The premiership win ended a 31-year flag drought.

Melton - 19 wins

The best team in the Ballarat league for the past three and a bit seasons. Only lost one game all season and won its last 14 to claim the premiership. Has started this season with five wins but almost lost to North Ballarat in round four with the Bloods winning by three points.

Waaia – 16 wins, one draw

The Bombers went unbeaten in their last 12 games to win a third straight Picola District league title. Waaia has been the team to beat in the competition this season and one of the strongest teams in country footy. The streak is currently 17 after winning the opening fives games of the season. Waaia has a percentage of more than 600 per cent.

Riddell – 16 wins

Won the last 11 games of the season in 2024 to win the Riddell District league premiership. Has started the season 5-0 and is the only unbeaten side in the competition.

Ararat – 13 wins, one draw

Led by ex-AFL player Tom Williamson the Rats have won the past two premierships in the Wimmera league. Ararat went 10 unbeaten to win last year’s premiership and have started this season with four wins.

Nar Nar Goon – 12 wins

Won its last seven matches to claim the West Gippsland premiership last year, it’s first in 14 years. The streak is currently 12 after winning the first five matches this season.

Murrayville – 10 games

The only Victorian team who play interstate that is on the list. The Blues play in the Murray Valley league and won their last seven games to win the premiership in the competition. Murrayville defeated Browns Well in the first game of the season and have won three games this season to extend the streak to 10.

Heidelberg - 10 games

The dominant team in the Northern league, aiming for four premierships in a row. Ended last year with five wins the claim the premiership before adding another five this season.

LOSING STREAKS:

Note: Maryborough and North Sunshine are currently one and two on the list, with 62 and 55 straight losses respectively, but are in recess for season 2025. Yarroweyah, who have also not won in 23 games and would be on the list, are also in recess.

Gormandale – 51 games without a win

Started the season with 47 straight losses in the North Gippsland league but didn’t lose in the first game of the season after being involved in an abandoned game with Sale City after a Tigers player got injured. The last win for the Tigers came in round one in 2022. The streak is currently at 51.

Bunyip – 41 losses

Made the move back to the Ellinbank league in the off-season after playing in the West Gippsland league. The losing streak is currently 41 games after losing its first five games of the season. The Bulldogs have the chance to end the drought this weekend, taking on Nyora, who only recently ended a losing drought of its own.

Campbells Creek – 40 losses

Currently on a 40-game losing streak stretching back to 2022. The previous win, against the Maryborough Rovers in 2022, ended a 29-game losing streak.

Narre Warren South – 24 losses

Lost all 18 matches last year to be relegated to Division 4 of the Southern league and has lost all five matches to start this season. Had a chance recently to beat South Yarra to end the drought but fell short. It could be a long season for the Saints.

Meringur – 23 losses

Last season the Kangaroos lost all 15 games and haven’t won a game since 2023. The club will be hoping to turn it around this year.

Tatura – 23 losses

Won the first game of last season against Seymour in the Goulburn Valley league but have not won a game since. The Bulldogs have lost 23 games in a row including 17 last year and six this year. Has lost on average by more than 100 points

Lancefield – 21 losses

Winless in the Riddell District league since the end of the 2023 season. Lost by 68 points in the first round of the season to Romsey and lost on Anzac Day to Kyneton. Has lost four games this season.

Started the season with two big losses to Colac and Bell Park to extend the streak to 15 losses. Lost the last 13 games in 2024 to start the run.

Lalor - 15 losses

The Northern team lost its last 10 games in 2024 before starting this season with five straight losses. Is currently at the bottom of the Division 3 ladder.

Norwood - 15 losses

It’s been a tough 18 months for Norwood in the Eastern league. After being relegated last year from the Premier Division, losing its last 10 matches, the team has struggled in Division 1 this year. Has lost its first five games to be stuck at the bottom of the ladder.
