The longest winning and losing streaks from Victorian local footy

The 2025 local footy season might only be a couple of weeks old, but the state’s longest winning and losing streaks continue to extend. See who takes top spot.

The 2025 local footy season might only be a couple of weeks old, but the state’s longest winning and losing streaks continue to extend.

Harrow Balmoral has the longest undefeated streak of 37 games with the next best 15 back.

With Maryborough in recess there is now another club with the most losses in a row.

WINNING STREAKS:

Harrow Balmoral – 39 wins

The most dominant team in local footy. The Kangaroos have not been beaten since 2022 in the Horsham league and have won the last two premierships in unbeaten seasons. Has won the opening three games of the season and has a bye this weekend.

Murchison-Toolamba – 19 wins, two draws

The streak almost ended twice for the Grasshoppers last year, drawing twice during the season. Murchison-Toolamba won the Kyabram District premiership last season and was unbeaten in all 18 games. Has had no issues in the first three matches this season to stay unbeaten.

The dominant team of the Goulburn Valley league, winning the past three premierships. Echuca has won 20 games in a row including 16 last season to win the premiership. Faces a tough test this weekend, taking on the Shepparton Bears.

Congupna – 18 wins

After losing to Finley in the early part of the season, The Road bounced back, beating the Cats twice to win the premiership. Congupna is currently on an 18-game winning streak after winning its last 14 games in 2024 and first four in 2025 by an average of more than 100 points. The premiership win ended a 31-year flag drought.

Boronia – 16 wins

The Hawks won 14 straight games last season to end the year with a Division 2 Eastern league premiership. Has started life in the Division 1 competition with two straight wins to sit second on the ladder.

Waaia – 14 wins, one draw

The Bombers went unbeaten in their last 12 games to win a third straight Picola District league title. Waaia has been the team to beat in the competition. The streak is currently 15 after winning the opening three games of the season.

Riddell – 14 wins

Won the last 11 games of the season in 2024 to win the Riddell District league premiership. Has started the season 3-0 and is one of two unbeaten sides in the competition.

Ararat – 12 wins, one draw

Led by ex-AFL player Tom Williamson the Rats have won the past two premiership in the Wimmera league. Ararat went 10 unbeaten to win last year’s premiership and have started this season with three wins.

Scoresby – 10 wins

The Magpies won their last seven matches in 2024 to claim the Division 4 Eastern league title. This year the team has won its first three matches in Division 3.

Nar Nar Goon – 10 wins

Won its last seven matches to claim the West Gippsland premiership last year, it’s first in 14 years. The streak is currently 10 after winning the first three matches this season.

Murrayville – 8 games

The only Victorian team who play interstate that is on the list. The Blues play in the Murray Valley league and won their last seven games to win the premiership in the competition. Murrayville defeated Browns Well in the first game of the season last Saturday to extend the streak to eight.

LOSING STREAKS:

Note: Maryborough and North Sunshine are currently one and two on the list, with 62 and 55 straight losses respectively, but are in recess for season 2025. Yarroweyah, who have also not won in 23 games and would be on the list, are also in recess.

Gormandale – 49 games without a win

Started the season with 47 straight losses in the North Gippsland league but didn’t lose in the first game of the season after being involved in an abandoned game with Sale City after a Tigers player got injured. The last win for the Tigers came in round one in 2022. The streak is currently at 49.

Bunyip – 39 losses

Made the move back to the Ellinbank league in the off-season after playing in the West Gippsland league. The losing streak is currently 39 games after losing its first three games of the season.

Campbells Creek – 38 losses

Currently on a 38-game losing streak stretching back to 2022. The previous win, against the Maryborough Rovers in 2022, ended a 29-game losing streak.

South Yarra – 27 losses

Not won a game in the Division 4 Southern League since 2023. The streak has almost ended twice with close losses to Clayton and Moorabbin.

Undera – 22 losses

It’s been a tough time for Undera, losing its past 22 matches. In 11 losses last season the margin was by more than 80 points. Started the year with a 133-point loss to Shepparton East but was close to ending the drought recently against Longwood.

Narre Warren South – 22 losses

Lost all 18 matches last year to be relegated to Division 4 of the Southern league and has lost three matches to start this season. Can end the streak in round four against South Yarra.

Meringur – 21 losses

Last season the Kangaroos lost all 15 games and haven’t won a game since 2023. The club will be hoping to turn it around this year.

Nyora – 21 losses

The Saints lost all games last year in the Ellinbank league to lose 18 straight matches. The streak is now at 21.

Tatura – 21 losses

Won the first game of last season against Seymour in the Goulburn Valley league but have not won a game since. The Bulldogs have lost 21 games in a row including 17 last year and four this year. Has lost on average by more than 100 points

Lancefield – 19 losses

Winless in the Riddell District league since the end of the 2023 season. Lost by 68 points in the first round of the season to Romsey and lost on Anzac Day to Kyneton.

Natimuk United –18 losses

Lost 15 straight matches last year to end the season in the Horsham league. Started this season with three straight losses to extend the streak to 18.

North Shore – 15 losses

Started the season with two big losses to Colac and Bell Park to extend the streak to 15 losses. Lost the last 13 games in 2024 to start the run.
