A notorious Mildura woman walked straight into a staff-only room at Spotlight and snatched two iPhones, a bank card and a money tin — just hours after being granted bail.

Shaniqua Kirby Wightman fronted Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where she pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including theft, burglary, intentionally destroying property and obtaining property by deception.

The court heard that within 24 hours of being bailed on a Friday, Kirby Wightman entered the restricted staff area at Spotlight on 15th St and took two iPhones, a money tin and a staff member’s bank card. The entire theft was captured on CCTV.

She used the stolen card shortly afterwards at the Shell service station at the corner of 15th Street and Etiwanda Ave, also caught on security camera.

She was arrested a short time later at an Ambleside Cres address.

Kirby Wightman’s lawyer Peter Delorenzo urged the court to consider other options that didn’t include a term of imprisonment.

Magistrate Patrick Southey disagreed, saying a term of imprisonment was well within range.

“I just bailed her on Friday. I gave her a chance,” Mr Southey said.

“We are not talking about an opportunity she was given last month. She was given bail on Friday, and here we are on Tuesday morning.”

Kirby Wightman, who was supported in court by her grandma and aunt, was sentenced to three months and two weeks behind bars.

When her sentence was read out, Kirby Wightman exploded at the magistrate and the body of the court.

“F--- you and your s---, you rats. I’m sick of your s---, you dogs,” Kirby Wightman said as she was led away by custody officers.

With two days reckoned as time served, Kirby Wightman will likely be released in July.
