A Robinvale man allegedly told one of his victims, “the devil is inside you,” before allegedly throwing a butter container at their head and punching three holes in a wall, a court has heard.

Raymond Terrick appeared before the Mildura Magistrate’s Court seeking bail to Mildura Base Public Hospital on mental health grounds.

His lawyer argued that Mr Terrick was too unwell to give instructions and was deteriorating further. He has spent 44 days in custody, during which time his father had died

Mr Terrick faces a range of charges from an alleged crime spree in Robinvale, including assaulting an Ambulance Victoria officer and several women.

As he awaited Magistrate Michael Coghlan’s decision, Mr Terrick appeared unsettled, frequently switching between standing and sitting.

Ultimately, Mr Coghlan granted the bail application for Mr Terrick to undergo a mental health assessment. He will be held for 72 hours on an Inpatient Assessment Order.

“I am going to grant you bail, Mr Terrick. Arrangements will be made for an ambulance to take you to Mildura Hospital for a mental health assessment,” Mr Coghlan stated.

“The police aren’t just going to open the doors and let you go,” he added.

“I understand, your honour. It’s good. I want to get an assessment anyway,” Mr Terrick replied.

If Mr Terrick is assessed as mentally well, he will reappear before the same court on June 13.
