A Mildura man allegedly sexually assaulted a mother of two while she changed her baby’s nappy in a busy shopping centre.
Connor Pappin, 21, is alleged to have threatened the woman with a flip knife and said “If you don’t show me your boobs, I am going to stab you”.
The Mildura Magistrates'’ Court heard the woman was changing the nappy of her five-month-old child at Mildura Central when the alleged incident happened.
Mr Pappin was released on bail to a facility, where he will be under 24 hour surveillance and is prohibited from leaving without supervision.
He is also banned from attending Mildura Central.
Mr Pappin, who sat in the dock, did not look at the alleged victim once, instead looking straight down or at the magistrate.
The victim’s father spoke once, asking how the court could be assured the accused wouldn’t be able to leave the facility he was being bailed to.
The magistrate acknowledged his decision would not be a popular one with the victim’s family, but said his hands were tied.
Mr Pappin will front court again on January 15.
