One dead in horror crash on Deakin Ave, Sixteenth St intersection in Mildura
A person has died and another is fighting for their life after a horrific collision in the state’s northwest.

A collision between a truck and a Toyota Tarago has resulted in one fatality at a notorious Mildura intersection.
Mildura police are investigating the collision that occurred at the intersection of Deakin Ave and Sixteenth St about 12.45pm.
One person died and another sustained life-threatening injuries, while two other passengers of the car were taken to hospital.
The driver of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
A Mildura local said the intersection had always been dangerous.
“It’s busy because it’s a main way of getting into Mildura from Adelaide, Lake Cullulleraine and Merbein. You really need to approach it carefully,’’ she said.
Police are imploring anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
The fatality brings Victoria’s road toll to 283 lives lost in 2023, compared to 232 lives at the same time last year.
