A Mildura druggie dad has been jailed after being caught trafficking meth to “fund his own habit”.

Corey Glidden pleaded guilty in Mildura Magistrates’ Court on November 9 to charges of drug trafficking, drug possession and possessing proceeds of crime after being caught with meth and morphine.

Glidden was seen by police with another man sitting down in a public area in Mildura on June 6, and began to walk away

Police stopped the men and interviewed and searched Glidden, finding .43g of meth in his pockets, $660 in cash, an ounce amount of an ingot and one vial of morphine.

Investigating officers also found evidence in Glidden’s phone that he’d been selling meth and cannabis that afternoon.

Glidden made admissions to police, but said he “didn’t know the meth was still in his pocket” and that he only sells drugs to “pay for his own habit”.

Glidden was known to police and had already been through the courts, coming out with a prior conviction for trafficking meth.

Magistrate Patrick Southey said meth was a “hideous drug”.

“It causes so much human misery, destroys families, causes violence, in particular domestic violence,” he said.

“You’ve already been given the opportunity to be on a community corrections order for trafficking, and you went straight back to it.”

Mr Southey said he had to send a serious message to Glidden and other offenders.

Glidden was sentenced to one month in prison and will have to complete a 12 month corrections order once he is released.
