A Mildura bartender at a popular karaoke bar erupted in a drunken frenzy after a night out, shoving a woman so violently into a wall that it broke, a court has heard.

Jem Kilic Aslan, known locally as “Storm”, pleaded guilty at Mildura Magistrates’ Court to unlawful assault and wilful damage in relation to multiple alcohol fuelled wild nights.

Aslan and the female victim hit a string of bars and clubs across Mildura on June 18, knocking back drinks before things took a dark turn.

Hours later at the victim’s home a heated row exploded into violence when the woman asked him to leave.

Aslan launched the woman against a wall with such force he smashed through the plaster, leaving a hole and the victim prone on the floor.

The victim managed to push Storm out of the house and call triple-0.

When Aslan was arrested he made admissions to pushing the woman and holding her down, telling police the victim pushed him and he “just snapped.”

On another occasion, Storm had been drinking at Honey Bar on Langtree Ave in the heart of the Mildura CBD, and had tried to smash down a woman’s door, telling police the victim had used abusive language toward him and he had “taken it personally.”

His lawyer, Natalie Eshak, noted it was her client’s first time in custody, and had been there for 12 days, before submitting a “therapeutic corrections order” would be a sufficient sentence.

The court heard he had stable employment in the local hospitality sector since 2016 and was currently receiving Centrelink benefits.

The court heard Aslan’s problem with alcohol had deepened following the death of his mother.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan chastised Aslan for his behaviour, calling it completely unacceptable.

“The offences to which you have pleaded guilty include unlawful assault and wilful damage … this behaviour (against women) is totally unacceptable in 2025,” Mr Coghlan said.

Aslan was sentenced to a 15 month CCO under supervision and will be required to undergo treatment to address his problem with alcohol and any mental health issues.

The 12 days he spent behind bars were not reckoned as served, meaning a jail term will not go on his criminal record.
