Maximus Devereux fronted court on several serious alleged charges including rape.

A Mildura man allegedly carrying a stash of drugs allegedly raped a woman after a night out on the town, a court has heard.

Mr Devereux is facing several serious alleged charges including rape, possession of a firearm and possession of various drugs.

A Mildura man with an alleged stash of prescription drugs and cocaine allegedly raped a woman after a night out on the town, a court has heard.

Maximus Devereux, 21, fronted Mildura Magistrates Court facing charges including rape, possession of cocaine, and possessing a firearm when prohibited.

Mr Devereux pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and firearms-related charges. He did, however, indicate he plans to plead guilty to the possession of cocaine and other drug-related charges at his committal hearing on Wednesday.

The court heard that on November 4, 2023, Mr Devereux and his alleged victim got a ride to his place from town in the early hours of the morning where the alleged sexual assault occurred.

It was claimed the alleged victim called a friend in tears and asked them to pick her up following the incident.

One witness claimed the alleged victim was crying and claimed she had been raped and also mentioned a gun and a knife.

Court documents show Mr Devereux was allegedly in possession of a slew of drugs on top of the cocaine, including weight loss drugs Duromine and Contrave, Spedra (a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction), and Valdoxan (a drug used to treat depression), all allegedly without a prescription.

Mr Devereux remains on strict bail conditions, including restrictions that prohibit him from leaving the country. He must reside at a specific address in Mildura, is prohibited from consuming drugs or alcohol, and is to have no contact with the alleged victim or witnesses.

Mr Devereux will next appear at Melbourne County Court for a directions hearing on July 17.
