A Mildura woman with a history of dangerous driving sped away from an open petrol bowser to escape police.

Kiara King pleaded guilty in Mildura Magistrates’ Court on November 29 to charges of dangerous driving while being pursued by police, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered motor vehicle and theft.

The court heard King was seen driving a Holden Commodore without licence plates on November 10 when she pulled into the Working Man’s Club on Deakin Ave.

She spotted the cops and took off, driving “at a fast rate of speed” and narrowly avoided hitting a police car.

Officers saw her speed down Deakin Ave, before going through an intersection against a red light.

The court heard police tried to stop her at a petrol station while she was filling up her car, but she jumped back into the Commodore and sped off with $50 worth of petrol.

King dumped the vehicle but was arrested later that day.

She returned a positive result for meth in an oral fluid test and her car was impounded.

In court on Wednesday, King also faced charges of theft after she left Mildura Coles with $150 worth of groceries without paying in May.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan slammed King, asking her if she thought her offending was “a game”.

“What concerns me is this is the same conduct you’ve been involved with on so many occasions,” he said.

“Do you think this is a game? Do you get joy or excitement from this?”

Mr Coghlan sentenced King to 28 days in prison for the dangerous driving while being pursued by police and using an unregistered car.

King was fined a total of $1000 for the theft of petrol and groceries, for committing an indictable offence while on bail and for failing the oral fluid test and her licence was disqualified for 12 months.
