Tyren King pleads guilty to more than 40 charges including $13k in tool thefts and stealing vehicles

A serial crook with a penchant for stealing anything not his broke into a shipping container and stole tools valued at more than $13,000 during months-long crime spree.

A Mildura crook went on a wild crime spree stealing cars and broke into a shipping container where he swiped tools valued at more than $13,000.

Tyren King, 24, pleaded guilty in Mildura Magistrates’ Court on November 29 to multiple charges of theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, theft, driving in a dangerous manner, handling stolen goods and more.

The court heard King’s crime spree started on September 7, when he stole a variety of tech appliances from a Hyundai i30, which he took to his mate’s place.

The pair were caught by police after the victim tracked his items through location technology to both their homes.

King’s co-accused fronted Mildura Court earlier in the year and was convicted and fined $700 for his part in the offending.

On September 25, King stole a Kia from Lemon Ave and licence plates from another car., while on other occasions he stole a Nissan Navara and stole $2600 worth of tools.

He then stole a Grand Toyota Land Cruiser, before later abandoning it at a vacant property.

The court heard King drove across the border into Buronga, where he broke into another car, stealing a woman’s wallet with multiple bank cards inside before spending $707 total on the stolen cards.

King abandoned the vehicle before stealing a Toyota HiLux.

He also gained entry to a shipping container used to store tools, where he stole $13,000 worth of equipment on September 26.

King’s final hurrah was at Mildura Central, where travelling at a high speed in the busy lot at 3pm he became airborne.

Police later found King at his home hiding under a bed sheet along with 3g of cannabis and 1g of methamphetamines.

An oral fluid test returned a positive result for meth.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan told King he needed to start making better decisions.

Mr Coghlan fined him $200 for driving while drug affected.

King’s licence was cancelled and disqualified for 12 months.
