A Mildura methhead claimed she needed to buy milk for her litter of kittens when she was asked why she was driving on a disqualified license while high.
Anne-Marie Hughes pleaded guilty in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court this week to multiple traffic offences.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan was incredulous at her excuse calling it a “heap of nonsense”.
“Seriously, that is one of the most pathetic excuses I have ever heard,” Mr Coghlan said.
Hughes’ lawyer told the court she was a former elite sports person involved in horse racing, and had suffered mental health problems since the end of her career.
But Mr Coghlan was unmoved, citing countless priors for the exact same offending.
“You are right on the brink of going to jail,” he said before handing down his sentence.
Ms Hughes was placed on a CCO and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid community work over the next 12 months.
