A Mildura man has been accused of a vicious attack on his ex-partner, leaving her, “terrified,” “defeated,” and “in a significant amount of pain.”

A Mildura man allegedly beat his ex-partner in a frenzied attack that left her bruised, bloodied and with fractured bones.

On May 10, the 30-year-old man returned to the alleged victim’s house after they had spent the day together with their young child, allegedly proceeding to beat the woman brutally after being asked to leave.

A police officer gave a gruesome blow by blow account of the alleged assault, detailing how he allegedly bit the woman on the cheek, and attempted to strangle her as well.

While the woman was in the shower, the man allegedly became enraged by what he found on his ex-partner’s phone.

Police allege that he smashed the phone over the woman’s head and began assaulting her brutally again with kicks and punches as she lay prone on the shower floor.

The woman’s workplace placed a call to police asking for a welfare check when she didn’t turn up for work three days after the alleged incident.

The man was unsuccessful as he applied for bail

Police say when they arrived to conduct the welfare check, the accused was \there and told them everything was fine. However, when police saw the injuries the woman had sustained they went inside and the woman told them her account of what happened.

After being taken to hospital by Ambulance Victoria, she was diagnosed with a severe haematoma on her left eye, bruising on her right eye, and extensive bruising on her legs and hands. She also could not move about freely and was walking with a limp. She also had a laceration to the top of her head and scans showed she had suffered at least two fractures.

Police told the court they found blood and hair in various locations around the household to be sent off for testing.

It has been alleged the man took photos during the vicious alleged assault

After an analysis of the accused phone, it was also alleged he was taking photos of the assault while it was happening.

It was claimed the pair’s young child definitely heard some of the assault and likely witnessed part of it.

Although the man made partial admissions to police, it was alleged he told them, “she asked to be assaulted.”

When a police officer was asked if the alleged victim would support the accused getting bail, she answered, “She is terrified of the accused. She is defeated, in a significant amount of pain.”

The man was denied bail and will appear at court from remand at a later date.
