TikTok burnouts: Hoons boasting about illegal driving on social media

Footage has emerged showing hoons flouting their dangerous driving on social media and bragging about it.

Hoon brags about getting burnout on TV

A hoon has posted his illegal burnouts hoping it will made A Current Affair.

The man, who goes by the TikTok account name @GeorgeFigJam posted two videos in the last three days revving the car’s engine, and skidding across wet roads.

In one video the driver can be heard saying, “I’m going to do a burnout so it goes on A Current Affair”.

While filming himself doing burnouts he can be heard laughing.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Russell Barrett said operation Achilles would be targeting illegal hoons who had the community fed up.

“Hoon activity is dangerous and not simply a bit of harmless fun. We’ve seen these kinds of behaviours result in both death and serious injury,” he said.

“Operation Achilles will target those who blatantly disregard the law and as a result, put the safety of the entire community at risk.”

He said police were aware the hoon behaviour was frustrating for residents and police were committed to working closely with community groups to address concerns.

“We have no tolerance for illegal hoon activity and remain committed to disrupting and prosecuting anyone involved in this type of dangerous behaviour,” he said.

“The penalties for hooning are significant and our message to anyone out there is simple – we will find you, arrest you, put you before the courts and seize your car.”

In Keysborough footage shown to Leader journalists showed suburban streets and industrial areas ripped up by underground group South East Skids.

Secret messages between the underground hoons organising a meet were also shown to Leader, with one even being made public on Instagram saying: “Rembember not to drive like a bunch of f***wits, we don’t want unnecessary attention. If cops come detour”.

Just last week in Bendigo police released a list of popular locations where hoons go to drive dangerously.

The potentially life-threatening hobby has escalated in Bendigo where the centre of town, multistorey and supermarket carparks have become a target.

Highway patrol Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said a fatal crash in Bendigo last year was the direct result of hooning.

Police believe the while the majority of the hoons — aged between 18 and 20 — are men, women were increasingly taking part in the meets.
